1. What is ITS@Wisconsin?

ITS@Wisconsin is a collaboration of educational service providers (ESPs) in the State of Wisconsin. This collaboration provides a complete, high-quality array of services creating a solid infrastructure for e-learning in Wisconsin. It lowers the total cost of operation of such a system by leveraging resources, expertise and economies of scale and eliminating duplication of services while increasing quality of service.

2. What is the mission of ITS@Wisconsin?

The primary mission of ITS@Wisconsin is to provide a robust and up-to-date e-learning system infrastructure for PK-16 education the State of Wisconsin. We provide the technology, training, support and instructional design and effectively employ these resources to enable high quality e-learning in Wisconsin and beyond. A major goal of ITS@Wisconsin is to enhance the broader e-learning mission of the State of Wisconsin. To accomplish this mission and goal, ITS@Wisconsin provides services to all University of Wisconsin System higher education institutions, public and private higher education institutions, and public and private schools, school districts, and educational agencies in Wisconsin.

3. What is an ESP?

ESP is the acronym for Educational Service Provider. An ESP has a focus of providing end-user services for e-learning. This wide array of services includes hardware, networking, instructional design, training and all the technical, system administration and help-desk support associated with e-learning. Additionally services such as procurement and product research and usability testing are included.

4. Who are the ESPs that comprise ITS@Wisconsin?

Currently there are five Wisconsin partners who are ESPs in ITS@Wisconsin. These include the Division of Information Technology (DoIt) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison; Instructional Communications Systems (ICS) at the University of Wisconsin Extension; University of Wisconsin Learning Innovations, a collaboration between the UW-System and UW Extension; the Learning Technology Development Council (LTDC) of the UW System; and WiscNet, an ESP providing networking and other services to Wisconsin's educational community with a focus on PK-12. 5. Does ITS@Wisconsin provide services to entities other than Wisconsin education?

Yes. Keeping in mind its primary mission, the individual educational service providers (ESPs) of ITS@Wisconsin may provide services to non-Wisconsin educational entities. This may include corporate, government, not-for profit, as well as PK-12 and higher education.

6. How are the costs derived for ITS@Wisconsin services?

The UW System will assist its institutions in underwriting costs for course hosting and related central support for the next several academic years. Services offered by ITS@Wisconsin to other educational institutions within the state are supported on a cost recovery basis. Non-Wisconsin educational entities should contact the appropriate ITS@Wisconsin ESP for pricing information.
